Method and important context
How are the averages calculated?
Motorbook uses one current price per reporting forecourt and fuel grade, then calculates an unweighted national mean. Closed sites, implausible values and prices beyond the published freshness limit are excluded.
Why might yesterday or month-on-month be unavailable?
Motorbook only publishes comparisons backed by retained daily observations. New periods appear after enough snapshots exist, rather than estimating or reconstructing missing history.
How current is Fuel Finder?
Retailers are required to report a price change within 30 minutes. A price timestamp records when that price changed, while the dataset timestamp above shows when Motorbook last refreshed the national feed.
